Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about joining aionot?
You’re in the right place. Below are some of the most common questions from brands, makers, designers and creative product owners before they apply.
If you still have questions after reading this page, you can message us or include your question in your application. We’ll review your products and get back to you with advice that fits your brand.
Application & Suitability
Who can apply to sell with aionot?
aionot welcomes independent brands, makers, designers, artists, illustrators and creative product owners who want to reach real customers through a curated retail environment.
We are especially interested in design-led products, thoughtful gifts, jewellery, accessories, art prints, stationery, home and lifestyle products, small apparel collections and creative products with a clear story or visual identity.
Do I need to be an established brand?
No. You do not need to be a fully established brand to apply.
aionot is designed for both emerging and existing brands. You may be launching your first product, testing a new concept, growing an existing brand, or looking for a more professional way to enter the retail market.
However, all applications are reviewed for product suitability, presentation, quality, price point, brand fit and category balance.
Do I need an ABN?
Yes — you must to have an ABN to sell with us. If you don’t have one yet, it’s free and straightforward to register at abr.gov.au. Sole traders, partnerships, and companies are all welcome.
What products may not be accepted?
Products may not be accepted if they do not fit aionot’s brand direction, customer base, quality expectations or legal requirements.
This may include products that are unsafe, counterfeit, offensive, poorly presented, legally restricted, inconsistent with your stated brand, or unsuitable for a curated retail environment.
aionot may also limit duplicate or highly similar products to maintain category balance and protect the overall customer experience.
Can I apply if I live outside South Australia?
Yes. We welcome interstate or overseas brands where the products are suitable for aionot.
However, vendors outside South Australia may need to allow extra time for shipping, barcode preparation, product information, restocking and return handling.
Additional handling or support fees may apply if extra labour is required.
Can I visit the store before applying?
Yes. Once the store is open, you are welcome to visit and experience the space as a customer.
As display opportunities within each category are limited, we strongly recommend applying early to secure your preferred placement. Depending on demand and product category, suitable display opportunities may not become available again for several weeks or even one to two months.
If you would like us to properly review your products, we recommend submitting an application first so we can assess your brand, product type and display needs in detail.
Products, Stock & Display
How many products should I provide at the beginning?
We recommend starting with a focused product range rather than sending too much stock at once.
A clear, well-presented selection is often more effective than overcrowding the display. Products need room to breathe, and customers need to understand your brand quickly.
During onboarding, we may suggest an initial product quantity based on your category, product size and display type.
Can I choose exactly where my products will be displayed?
You can tell us your preference, but final placement is decided by aionot.
Display placement depends on product type, size, availability, store layout, category mix, visual merchandising needs and customer flow. Our goal is to present products in a way that works for both the brand and the overall store experience.
To maintain a visually balanced store environment and deliver the best customer experience, aionot may occasionally rotate or adjust placements between equivalent display options of the same tier. These adjustments are intended to improve visual merchandising, customer flow and overall sales performance, rather than favouring individual brands or products.
Who sets up the display?
aionot manages the overall in-store presentation to maintain a consistent, curated and customer-friendly retail experience.
For South Australian vendors, we strongly encourage you to complete your initial display setup in person where possible. As the creator behind your products, you understand your brand story, product details and ideal presentation better than anyone else.
For interstate and international vendors, aionot will do our best to assist with display setup, restocking and presentation support where possible. However, as these services require additional coordination and staff resources, support requests may occasionally be scheduled according to operational capacity and demand at the time.
Our goal is always to ensure every brand is presented professionally and thoughtfully, while maintaining fairness across all participating vendors.
Do I need to provide props, signage or packaging?
We recommend providing simple branded materials such as product cards, care instructions, signage and display props where they help customers understand your products and brand story.
Vendors are responsible for providing any product-specific packaging required for their own items.
aionot will provide customer shopping bags at the point of sale to maintain a consistent overall brand experience. The cost of standard aionot shopping bags is already included in your display fee, so no additional charge applies.
All props, signage and packaging materials are subject to aionot approval to ensure they meet store presentation, safety and space requirements.
Can aionot help with barcode setup?
Yes. Barcode setup support is part of the onboarding process for approved vendors.
However, vendors are responsible for providing accurate product names, prices, descriptions and SKU information. If products arrive without clear information or require extra sorting or correction, additional support fees may apply.
Can aionot store extra stock for me?
Storage space may be limited.
Small backup stock may be accepted depending on your product type and available storage, but aionot cannot guarantee storage for large quantities, bulky items or excess packaging.
Sales, Reporting & Payouts
Do I need to work shifts in the store?
No. Vendors are not required to work in-store shifts. aionot provides customer-facing retail support as part of the in-store experience.
However, we believe customers connect most strongly with the people and stories behind the products. From time to time, aionot may organise maker meet-and-greets, brand showcases, launch events or community experiences that allow customers to connect directly with creators and brands.
Vendors are also welcome to host workshops, demonstrations or creative experiences within the aionot community where suitable. These activities can help customers engage more deeply with products, stories and the people behind them.We recommend starting with a focused product range rather than sending too much stock at once.
When will I receive payout?
Payout timing will follow your vendor agreement.
Your payout may depend on confirmed sales, refunds, fees, deductions, processing timelines and any agreed settlement cycle. Full payout details will be confirmed during onboarding.
What happens if a customer returns an item?
aionot manages the overall in-store presentation to maintain a consistent, curated and customer-friendly retaiReturns, exchanges and refunds will be handled according to aionot’s customer policy and the vendor agreement.
If a product is faulty, unsafe, incorrectly described or required to be refunded under Australian Consumer Law, the sale amount may be adjusted or deducted from the vendor’s payout.
What happens if my product is damaged or missing?
We recommend providing simple branded materials such as product cards, care instructions, signage and aionot will take reasonable care when handling and displaying vendor products, but small retail risks may exist.
Damage, loss, theft, customer handling, breakage, product faults and packaging issues will be managed according to the vendor agreement. Vendors should ensure their products are well-made, safe, stable and appropriately packaged.
Who sets the product prices?
Vendors usually set their own recommended retail prices.
However, aionot may provide feedback if prices appear inconsistent with the product category, customer expectations, quality level or market positioning. Final pricing arrangements should be confirmed before products are displayed.
How should I price my products?
Pricing should consider your production cost, packaging, time, margin, target customer, product quality and retail positioning.
A useful question is: “Would a customer understand the value of this product at this price within a curated retail environment?”
If you are unsure, aionot may provide general pricing feedback during onboarding or through selected support services.
Online, Marketing & Brand Growth
Can my products be sold online as well?
aionot is designed to support both physical retail and online discovery.
Online listing or online sales may depend on product suitability, photography, product information, stock availability, fulfilment requirements and website readiness. Not every product will automatically be listed online.
Will aionot promote my brand?
aionot may promote selected brands and products through social media, EDM campaigns, gift guides, website features, events and seasonal campaigns.
Promotion opportunities depend on product suitability, campaign schedules and content readiness.
Brands looking for more regular exposure and growth support may also be interested in our optional Brand Growth Services, which are designed to support visibility, customer insights and long-term brand development.
Can aionot help me build my brand or IP?
aionot aims to support brands beyond basic product display.
Depending on your arrangement, we may provide feedback on product storytelling, visual identity, product direction, customer response, display strategy or IP development opportunities.
Our goal is to help suitable products grow from items into stronger stories, and from stories into recognisable brand assets.
Can I host a workshop, class or creative experience at aionot?
Absolutely. At aionot, we see workshops and creative experiences as more than events — they are opportunities to build community, strengthen customer relationships and grow your brand beyond traditional retail.
For suitable vendors, aionot will provide space, promotional support and customer outreach to help bring your ideas to life.
For many brands, workshops become more than a marketing activity. They can create additional revenue streams, generate valuable customer feedback, strengthen brand identity and build long-term community engagement.
Some workshops even become the starting point for new products, collaborations or future brand IP.
Workshop opportunities are subject to suitability, scheduling, space availability and aionot approval.
Agreement, Timing & Communication
How long should I participate for?
While participation length is entirely your choice, aionot generally recommends a minimum trial period of 12 weeks.
Retail exposure takes time, and customers often discover products over multiple visits rather than a single interaction. Industry experience suggests that around 12 weeks is typically needed to generate meaningful exposure, customer feedback and reliable sales trends.
This gives both your brand and aionot enough time to understand what works best in terms of products, pricing and presentation.
Can I pause or end my participation?
This will depend on your vendor agreement, notice period, product status and any outstanding fees or obligations.
Please contact aionot in advance if you need to pause, remove products or end your participation.
How often do you accept new vendors?
New vendor availability depends on product category, display availability, current brand mix and store planning.
You can apply at any time. If your products are suitable but no suitable display option is currently available, we may place you on a waitlist.
Can two brands share one display arrangement?
This may be considered for collaborations or closely related brands, but it must be approved by aionot in advance.
Each brand may need to complete its own application and onboarding products, so the sales records and responsibilities can be managed clearly.
